I share when I want people to read something and tell me what they think, each on their own: a proposal to a customer, a report to a board, a deck to a few prospects. Everyone gets their own copy, nobody sees anyone else's comments, and I can see who's actually read it.
Share or collaborate?
Every document on aihops is one or the other. It's the one choice that matters, so it's worth getting right.
| Share it | Collaborate | |
|---|---|---|
| In short | Everyone gets their own copy | One copy, everyone on it |
| Comments | Plain comments, seen only by the person who wrote them | Comments, suggested edits, questions, issues and pricing notes, seen by everyone on it |
| What owners see | Who opened it, how often and for how long | Everything: mark-up, progress and history |
| AI | None | AI review and consolidation |
| Good for | Customers, prospects, wide distribution | Your team, reviewers, approvers |
Uploads start as a share. I can make one a collaboration at any time. For running a review together, see how I collaborate.
Getting it onto aihops
I use whichever way is closest to hand:
- Upload it. Drop an
.html,.pdfor.docxfile on the home page, or choose Upload document. - Paste it. Copy the HTML your AI tool made, from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or anything else, and paste it in.
- Email it. Attach the document to an email to share@aihops.com.au, from the address I sign in with, and it lands in my list, private to me, ready to share.
- Ask Claude or ChatGPT. With aihops connected, "Put this one-pager on aihops and share it with Sam and Priya" does it all, asking me before anyone is emailed. See installing the MCP.
Choosing who sees it
Under Share with, I add up to 50 people at once: typed, separated by commas or new lines, or pasted straight from Outlook as Name <address>. They can be inside or outside my organisation. All they need is an email address: no aihops account in advance, and no account with any AI tool.
Each one gets an email with a link. The first time they sign in, with a code sent to their email or with Google, the document is waiting under Shared with me. Copy link gives me the document's address to paste anywhere, and it opens only for the people it's shared with.
What they see
Each person sees the document as I made it, animations, slides and all, in a sandbox that keeps its scripts away from everything else. To comment, they select the words and choose Comment, or right-click. Their comments are theirs alone: nobody else it's shared with sees them, and nor do I. They can reply, resolve and delete their own, which makes their copy a good place to think aloud.
What I see
In place of the comments, the Engagement panel shows who has opened it, how often, for how long, and when they last did. My home page says Seen by 3 of 5. That tells me who to follow up, and who spent twenty minutes on the pricing page.
How reading time is measured. Only while the document is visible, in focus and actually being read: it stops after two minutes without activity. People are told it's measured. It's never shared beyond the document's owners.
Letting them take it to their team
Let them make their own copy, to work on with their team starts ticked. With it on, anyone I've shared with can make a copy of their own, which is a collaboration they own, and work through it with their colleagues. I see that a copy was made, and nothing about what's in it. That's often how a proposal gets approved: the customer takes it to their team and collaborates on it there.
Turn it off if a document shouldn't travel further.
Sending a new version
When I've updated the document, I upload the new version on the same page. Everyone it's shared with can be emailed that there's a new version, and opens the latest straight away. Each person chooses which emails they get from aihops.
When it's time to work together
If a share turns into a conversation, I make it a collaboration, under More. Everyone moves onto one copy with every tool, and aihops emails them to say so. Comments people made on their own copy stay theirs, and become visible to everyone only if they choose Share with everyone.
What it costs
Nothing. Uploading, sharing and collaborating are free and unlimited. You pay only for AI reviews and consolidations, and sharing uses neither.
